The Designer Makers Centre

Oswaldtwistle Mills has a rather unexpected oasis of lawned areas and picnic benches just around the corner next to the Shopping Village.  Here also is Clifton Mill; currently an administrative centre, but soon to become an oasis of a different sort – a Designer Makers Centre.

The ground floor will be sub-divided into small studio units where craftspersons will design, make and sell their wares.  The creative centre will welcome jewellers, a decorative watchmaker, silk crafts, visual artists, card-makers, a stonemason, photographer, sculptor and bespoke furniture-maker.

Lancashire has a strong tradition of craftspeople and artisans – and the Designer Makers Centre could offer you the chance to access your own skills, either as a ‘start-up’ business or as a visitor to craft workshops that will take place here.  The studios will be grouped around a central exhibition space and café and linked to the attractive, tranquil mill grounds and the main mill complex by a new pedestrian route.

‘Redeveloping Clifton Mill gives us the chance to encourage local craftspeople and help them develop their businesses, comments Boyd Hargreaves, ‘let us know if we can help you nurture your creative talent.’
